In fact, they are seen to be the key to the sustainability and ongoing evolution of collaborative, inclusive and multistakeholder approaches to internet policy development and implementation. A total of 54 reports on NRIs are gathered in this year's Global Information Society Watch (GISWatch). These include 40 country reports from contexts as diverse as the United States, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea and Colombia. The country reports are rich in approach and style and highlight several challenges faced by activists organising and participating in national IGFs, including broadening stakeholder participation, capacity building, the unsettled role of governments, and impact. Seven regional reports analyse the impact of regional IGFs, their evolution and challenges, and the risks they still need to take to shift governance to the next level, while seven thematic reports offer critical perspectives on NRIs as well as mapping initiatives globally; Preface Chat Garcia Ramilo Overview Markus Kummer Thematic Reports NRIs: Role, impact and inclusiveness David Souter NRIs and the United Nations IGF: A reciprocal relationship Farzaneh Badii A mapping of national and regional IGFs Roxana Bassi The national IGF landscape in Latin America and the Caribbean: Mapping the initiatives Carolina Aguerre Agustina Callegari Diego Canabarro Nathalia Sautchuk Patrício Louise Marie Hurel What we talk about when we talk about gender Bishakha Datta Leveraging community networks to remedy exclusions in internet governance Roxana Bassi Alan Finlay Mike Jensen Leandro Navarro Regional Reports Arab Internet Governance Forum (Arab IGF) Jessica Dheere Asser Khattab Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) Lisa Garcia Central Asia Internet Governance Forum (CAIGF) Artem Goryainov European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) Giacomo Mazzone Latin American and Caribbean Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Internet Governance Forum (LACIGF) Kemly Camacho South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG) Liora Amina Berisha Valida Hromadzic Southern Africa Internet Governance Forum (SAIGF) Towela Nyirenda Jere Country Reports Country Report Introduction Argentina Nodo TAU Australia Department of Media and Communication, Faculty of Health, Arts and Design, Swinburne University of Technology Bangladesh Bytesforall Bangladesh Bosnia and Herzegovina One World Platform Brazil Instituto Nupef Bulgaria BlueLink.net Cameroon PROTEGE-QV Canada Alternatives China Colombia Colnodo Congo, Democratic Republic of Si Jeunesse Savait (SJS) Congo, Republic of AZUR Development Costa Rica Sulá Batsú Ecuador Universidad Internacional del Ecuador Egypt India Society for Promotion of Alternate Computing and Employment (SPACE) Italy Eurovisioni Kenya KICTANet Korea, Republic of Korean Progressive Network Jinbonet Malawi and Mozambique NEPAD Agency Malaysia Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti Selangor (EMPOWER) New Zealand InternetNZ Nigeria Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) and Fantsuam Foundation Pakistan Media Matters for Democracy Panama IPANDETEC Paraguay Asociación Trinidad Peru Hiperderecho Philippines Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA) Romania StrawberryNet Foundation and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania Senegal Jonction Serbia SHARE Foundation Seychelles Independent writer, with inputs from the Seychelles Association of Media Professionals and Stand Up Step Up Seychelles South Africa Southern African Emerging Leaders on Internet Governance Togo Afrotribune Tunisia iGmena Turkey Hun Consultancy United States Technicalities Uruguay Observatorio de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (ObservaTIC) Venezuela Latin American School of Networks Foundation (EsLaRed) Yemen YODET UR - https://www.giswatch.org/sites/default/files/giswatch17_web.pdf ER -
